Basically the spastic colon is characterized by constant or recurring lower abdominal pain or cramping which can be either mild or even severe along with the altered bowel motility such as diarrhea, constipation or even both.
The spastic colon symptoms basically result from what appears to be a breakdown in communication within the digestive tract.
Actually the patients suffering from this problem may experience attacks suddenly at any time of day or night or in some cases occasionally.
In some cases the patients with spastic colon suffer from frequent urges to defecate which is followed by extremely painful spasms during evacuation of the bowel.
The most common symptoms of bowel spasm is gas and bloating, but in some cases the patients may also experience vomiting which is not common but it can occur due to nausea from the pain.
Some of the other commonly known bowel spasm symptoms include tiredness, weight loss, and dehydration especially if a patient is experiencing frequent diarrhea.
